1. ATESSA, its people, its places and especially its character!
Today Atessa is known in Italy and abroad mainly for its production area with high industrial impact, but it is not only this.
In fact, Atessa is a village of Abruzzo that is located in the lower valley of the Sangro river and winds on a crescent-shaped relief.
The origins of the village date back to after the fall of the Western Roman Empire, around the VIII-IX century, probably from the fusion of two settlements,
Ate and Tixa.
2. From the sea to the mountain in a few kilometers.
Abruzzo is a truly multifaceted region that thanks to its climate and its different landscapes can conquer visitors at any time of the year.
Mountains, countryside, sea, ancient villages and castles and traditions, a nature that surprises. This is Abruzzo.
3. The Province of Chieti
is a land that boasts the unparalleled privilege of possessing, in the same territorial area, an incredible variety of resources ranging from nature reserves to sanctuaries and historic centers, from archaeological areas to hills, the countryside, the mountain, the soft sand and the evocative and timeless "overflows". You can define a mosaic territory, starting from its geographical aspect: in a few kilometers you pass from the sea coast to the peaks of the central-eastern Apennines, in a continuous ups and downs between parallel valleys and rarely flat countryside.
4. The Trabocchi Coast
corresponds to the Adriatic coast of the province of Chieti (Abruzzo), is a coast of 70 kilometers from Ortona to San Salvo of which about 40km are also equipped with a path accessible only by bicycles and pedestrians. It includes a series of creeks and cliffs under the hills that end to the Adriatic Sea marked by the spread of Trabocco - a fishing machine resting on stilts.
5. Majella Natural Park
The mountains of the Majella massif in spring wear their most beautiful and multicolored dress: the bright green of the young leaves, the first blooms that punctuate white, yellow, blue and purple meadows and undergrowth, the peaks of the mountains still slightly whitewashed.
6. Vasto and Punta Aderci nature reserve
Overlooking what is called the Gulf of Gold, or an extensive crescent-shaped bay characterized by golden sand, Vasto is famous for being one of the most characteristic places of Abruzzo.Among the beaches of Vasto are the most beautiful coastlines of Abruzzo, awarded also among the most beautiful beaches in Italy. The sea of the Punta Aderci Nature Reserve is clean and very clear surrounded by a wild and unspoilt nature.
7. Pescara
Pescara, in addition to being the most populated city of Abruzzo and the most commercial Abruzzo, is also an exclusive tourist destination on the Adriatic Sea, but less than an hour from the highest peaks of the Apennines. Here you can find picturesque outdoor restaurants, shops, entertainment venues, but also bike paths along the sea and many events that make this city dynamic and fun.
8. Fara San Martino
A typical village of the Abruzzo mountains. Fara San Martino, is immersed in the wonderful natural setting of the Majella National Park. Many call it the "world capital of pasta", thanks to the historic presence of the famous pasta factories De Cecco, Delverde and Cocco that export their unparalleled products, all over the world.
